Jake Gale is a photographer and printer working mainly in contemporary and historical analog processes, and in digital when circumstances warrant. Interested in image making from an early age, he recommitted himself to photography in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and shoots primarily in 8x10 large format and 35mm, and almost exclusively in black and white, developing and printing in his home studio in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Jake's practice explores justice, nature, impermanence, family, and the built environment. When work and family life permit, he can be found shouldering his 8x10 camera and wandering the streets of the Twin Cities or the open spaces of Minnesota's North County.
